The Iron Man palace

The Iron Man Palace is a secessionist building in the center of Novi Sad, located on Trg slobode at the address Njegoševa 2. Its foundation is in the shape of the Cyrillic letter Ш and was built in 1908/1909 for the Roman Catholic Church community. The facades are decorated with various details of secessionist aesthetics, such as large residential units, facades adorned with bay windows and small domes. The palace got its name from the iron figure in the niche on the corner of the building, holding a halberd. The authorship of this palace is disputed, although it seems that the project was by the author Karl Kovács from Budapest.
